Oreo makes peanut butter filling... uh oh?

I just called Oreo (well, Nabisco, actually) and learned the following:
- Non-nut flavored Oreos are presently manufactured in peanut-free facilities.  They can't tell me if the facilities are tree-nut free.
- Nabisco will always include a "may contain..." statement if they feel a risk of cross-contamination may exist after they have employed all of their procedures to negate potential cross-contamination
- Nabisco does not use "made in a facility that also processes products that contain peanuts or tree nuts..." statement.  Instead, they will take all precautions to eliminate risk of cross-contamination.
- Nabisco equipment lines are designed to accommodate multiple products, and they "prevent" the risk of cross-contamination by "thorough cleaning and testing between runs of different products"

Bottom Line: read the label for disclosure of cross-contamination risk that Nabisco could not prevent.  Buy Nabisco products (including Oreos) if you are comfortable with their cross-contact prevention policies and the specific package label does not warn of potential cross-contamination.
